Values day celebrated with trips to Bezerk, Salcey Forest and Hazard Alley

This Wednesday, we celebrated Values Day, across the school. 

At Kings Meadow, we believe that values must be lived, experienced and celebrated — not simply discussed. Our Values Day was designed as a whole-school opportunity for pupils to apply both our school values and our Essentials Curriculum within meaningful real-world experiences that extend beyond the classroom.

Through carefully planned off-site activities, pupils are supported to develop:

  • resilience
  • communication
  • connection
  • reflection
  • independence

Values Day provided our pupils with opportunities to experience healthy challenge within safe and supportive environments, helping them to develop and strengthen their relationships with both peers and adults.

By encouraging shared activities and real-life experiences, it allows pupils to develop confidence in their communication and teamwork, while practising emotional regulation in meaningful, everyday situations.

Den built of branches at Salcey Forest on Values DayThere were multiple trips across the day including a visit to Salcey forest for den building and forest skills, a visit to Hazard Alley in Milton Keynes to learn about safety in real life situations and a trip to Berzerk soft play.

We had fantastic feedback from Will Grosvenor, Bezerk Centre Manager about the visit, which illustrates the positive impact of our Values Day. He said:

“A number of customers and staff members commented on how well-behaved the children were throughout their visit. They were respectful of other visitors, considerate within the centre, and represented the school exceptionally well. I also wanted to recognise the staff members in attendance, who were attentive and engaged with the children throughout the session. Their supervision and interaction helped create a very positive atmosphere for everyone at the centre.

“We felt it was important to share this positive feedback with you and your team, as it was noticed and appreciated by many people today.”

Needless to say the children really enjoyed the visits too!

Values day encouraged pupils to become increasingly independent and reflective, allowing them to experience success outside of the traditional classroom structure. Through these shared experiences, pupils were also supported to develop curiosity, playfulness, acceptance and empathy.
